Part-time, Contract Position, to Mid-November 2020
Small, established Redwood City publisher seeks an experienced and energetic Editor/Writer to update sections of our 360-page reference manual: editing and integrating new material into the publication and providing oversight of the outside compositor’s production files.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and analyze researchers’ submitted content. Integrate with the existing text and images to accomplish the updated result. Edit content for clarity, tone, house style, and to fit allotted space.
- Prepare marked-up pages for compositor providing guidance on layout, space, and addition of new content.
- Manage and review pages to and from compositor through proofreading stage to achieve print-ready pages.
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.A. in English, Technical writing or related field; 5 or more years of related experience.
- Self starter and capable of working independently without supervision.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Keen interest and focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Software skills consistent with this position
DETAILS:
- Remote working. SF Peninsula, reasonably near Redwood City.
- Free to devote between 10-20 hours per week to this position.
- $40 to $50 Per Hour, BOE.
