WHAT
We are looking for a variety of short features for our annual travel guide. Story topics have already been determined, and we are looking for writers who can bring these topics to life and help sell Minnesota as a travel destination.
This publication is highly visual, and the stories will fall somewhere between narratives and photo essays. As such, word counts are fairly low to begin with and you’re encouraged to deliver stories slightly under the maximum allowable.
RATE
$1/word, paid at the story’s max word count (e.g., $600 for a 600-word story, even if the actual word count only comes out to 550 words)
TIMELINE
First drafts due in mid-September, finals by early October.
HOW TO PITCH
Since the story topics are already laid out, keep your pitches short and sweet. Please only include:
- Who you are
- Which stories you’d like to write
- What makes you qualified to write them
- A link to your portfolio, or any other applicable work samples
