Pitches wanted for Latinx Heritage Month | $100-$300 per piece

Yvonne Marquez, former Senior Editor at Autostraddle, is looking for pitches/submissions:

I was tapped by Autostraddle to curate and edit a series for Latinx Heritage Month! I'm interested in personal essays, cultural criticism, reported pieces, etc on the theme of death and rebirth. Black and Indigenous Latinx folks are encouraged to submit.

This theme is only fitting for a year where the pandemic has exposed what is sick with our country — exposing it's rotten roots of racism and capitalism. A movement for Black lives demands we confront anti-blackness, abolish police and prisons, and reimagine community care.

We're witnessing the demise of a so-called democracy every single day in this country. Climate change has reminded us how we have failed the land and how it will ultimately fail us too. With the death of toxic systems, makes way for new growth and a chance for a new beginning.

I want to know what you're shedding and once believed in and the new growth taking place. I want to know what was always buried beneath — the painful history of Latinidad, the bones holding your culture together that have been hidden away from the world and how you're honoring it.

I also want to know, despite all this happening, how you are celebrating your existence during these dark times. Queer Latinx folks, please submit and share your story. I'm excited to read and work with you. Pay is between $100-$300.
