I’m looking for an editor for a branded content project centering around fair housing policies and the impact they have on real people (with an emphasis on communities that have been / continue to be disenfranchised by the institutional systems). Relevant expertise is very important, so please provide a brief bio of how your background intersects with the subject matter and any expertise you bring to the table. This is an ongoing project, so I’ll come back to this same thread with each ask for writers, so if your background is aligned but this particular angle isn’t quite aligned for you, feel free to follow this thread for future asks!
EDITOR: I’m looking for a single editor to work with all of our writers to produce what will be a total of 6x longform (~1.5K words each) articles and 1x short (<250 words); two of the longer will be more heavily designed and include interactive elements. I expect a rolling production schedule which should extend through January (though timeframes are fluid). Flat rate of $3.5K. Send bio and relevant past work (live links if possible) with headline “Editor, Housing Project”.
WRITER: The concept is the positive impact that diverse, non-segregated communities have on all aspects of life and all people who live in them. “ This by-the-numbers article will visualize the positive impact that diverse communities have on education, local business, and government. Click-to-change charts, parallax animations, and impactful data will help demonstrate the scale of effect that diverse communities can bring.” We’re looking for a data journalist or someone with a background in housing equality or America’s struggle with desegregation. Rate is $1.25K, article will be 750-1.1k words with some additional data-focused moments that could be turned into charts, plus an additional <250 micro-article that focuses on homeownership rates of the Black community and drives to this longer article about diversifying and desegregating communities. Send bio, relevant past work, and a brief outline of how you would approach the topic with headline “Writer, Diverse Communities Article”.
