Investor’s Business Daily is currently seeking a Senior Markets Writer. Applicants should have expertise and experience in options trading, as well as the overall stock market and stock investing.

JOB SUMMARY

Produce articles and related content, primarily on stock options or other investments that help IBD customers make more money in the stock market.
Take a leadership role among IBD reporters in promoting high standards, developing story ideas and ensuring coverage objectives, quality goals and deadlines are met.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Accurately report and write engaging and well-sourced stories for the Investors.com website, IBD Weekly newspaper and/or other IBD publications or services. Stories should benefit investors and other IBD readers, leveraging IBD’s proprietary stock market research and CAN SLIM investing method as appropriate.
Keep up to date on news and trends related to assigned coverage area, including the general market, IBD indexes and IBD stock performance lists.
Develop ideas for articles that are original, timely and informative and attract web readers. Make suggestions to the markets editors about stocks to cover, and offer insights on their performance, timeliness, strengths and weaknesses.
Develop strong SEO for your content. SEO includes web headlines, SEO page titles, URLs, meta descriptions and keywords, as well as hyperlinks inserted in the body of articles.
Participate in social media to promote your IBD content, cultivate relationships with sources or others interested in the topics that you cover, and help develop IBD’s web audience.
Use databases, stock charts and financial statements when appropriate to gather information for articles and related content. The Wonda system and other IBD/DAI stock research services are crucial tools to master and use daily to guide reporting.
Write updates or other content for Leaderboard, SwingTrader or other subscriber products. Suggest ideas for stocks to add to the product.
Assist supervisor as needed in editing other writers’ articles, writing headlines or performing other tasks.
May produce videos or assist in the production of videos, such as by developing scripts or appearing in videos to discuss stock market news and trends.
May take a lead role in developing or executing projects such as a multipart article series or special report.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or relevant experience.
Minimum relevant experience of five years.
Relevant journalism experience, or journalism training, such as through a degree program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

Deep knowledge of stocks, options and/or other investments, from basic fundamentals to advanced trading strategies.
Experience writing about and/or trading these investments.
Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex information for a broad audience of non-experts.
Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines while juggling multiple tasks.
Ability to use charts and financial databases to perform research, verify information and generate investing ideas, such as stocks to trade.
Attention to details; few errors in work.
