We are open for pitches. Our guidelines for freelancers spell out pretty well the kinds of topics we’d like covered, though I’d add that we’re also very interested at the moment in pitches that address how public media is responding to the movement for racial justice and greater diversity among its employees and audiences, and how the pandemic is affecting the system.
We’re also trying to expand our network of writers who are comfortable writing about radio and TV broadcast technology and engineering.
We have actually increased our rates — we now pay 75 cents/word and there is no limit on payment for a story.
