UMBC is seeking a diverse pool of freelance writers focused on tech, computing, engineering to write articles about university research, teaching, events. Pay is $350 – 500 per article, depending on length, interviews required, and other factors. Most articles will be 650 – 750 words, but they may range more widely.
FREELANCE WRITERS
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks a diverse pool of freelance writers with a focus on technology, computing, and engineering to write articles related to UMBC’s College of Engineering and Information Technology. Articles will focus on the College’s new research, publications, and achievements, and may also include teaching, events, and student groups.
UMBC will publish edited articles through UMBC News, UMBC Magazine, the AAAS EurekAlert platform, and other university platforms.
Assignments will be on a per article basis, January – April 2021. Compensation will be $350 – 500 per article, depending on length, interviews required, and other factors. Most articles will be 650 – 750 words, but they may range more widely. Writing should be consistent with UMBC style and brand.

If selected to be part of the freelance pool, you will hear back from UMBC within two weeks of your packet submission.
