I’m a contributing editor and I’m doing a call for pitches! Please email personal essay pitches about Black joy, how your self-value has been shaped/changed by people you love, or the grief of losing a best friend/sibling (even if they’re still here).
I’d also love to see personal essays about male friendship (even more excited if it’s between men of color).
Please make sure your pitch includes the story’s main points and the ground you’d like to cover, and clips if you have them. I’d love to read drafts as well. Here is a great pitch guide by Rosemarie Donahue: https://medium.com/@rosemarydonahue/how-to-pitch-your-work-like-you-mean-it-d6ba6af12cb0
Lastly, if you’re including a draft, I ask that they be no more than 4,000 words!
If you have the mental capacity, I’m taking pitches for about a week! We start at $200 for most pieces (not per word).
