Break free from a world corrupted by misogynoir’s destructive ideologies & practices.
Emerge into a flagrant reimagining, wherein the BLACK QUEER FEMME is both creator of constitution and leader of divine law. In this reimagining, we, BLACK QUEER FEMMES, conjure our own circumstances & collective consciousness centered in our cravings, our desires, our TASTES.
BLACK FEMME COLLECTIVE [BFC] calls upon Black Queer Femme storytellers to pitch creative nonfiction (personal essays, cultural criticism, memoir excerpts, interviews, reviews, opinion articles, etc.) for inclusion in our next collection: TASTE.
TASTE. What personal acts of rebellion still linger on your tongue? Whose fragrance made you salivate? When did your taste for freedom overwhelm the thirst to conform? What addictions set your gums smacking? How do you want to be consumed, devoured, tasted? We want your stories on all of this and more. We are excited for creative nonfiction that plays off this theme, especially in unexpected ways. BFC offers all contributors compensation for their work (starting at $125 for personal essays and cultural criticism, as well as $75 for articles, reviews, and interviews). BFC is accepting pitches through January 15, 2021.
BFC is a digital feminist archive that anthologizes Black Queer Femme history, culture, stories, and supremacy. At the core, BFC aims to disrupt the status quo by building a literary community wherein Black Queer Femmes are celebrated, centered and published. In each collection, a specific theme becomes the catalyst for creative nonfiction by emerging and renowned Black Queer Femme writers alike.
