We're committed to publishing stories of substance with a voice that is smart and funny. Topics we're interested in include psychedelic science, meditation, anxiety, adventure sports, depression, sleep, strength, rituals, relationships, rites of passage, comedy, creative expression and questioning cultural norms.
We're seeking sharp freelancers to contribute personal essays and reported journalism. We are also interested in idea-forward essays or informative how-to articles from subject matter experts. Email editor with your succinct pitch, a brief bio and three links to published work. Pitches for reported stories should have a strong angle and an established central character or group of characters. We prefer personal essays pitched on spec in their entirety, but will consider well-crafted essay pitches. We pay $.50/word, with stories typically assigned at 500 or 1,000 words.
