PITCH CALL: I’m looking to hire for a number of paid assignments around Black History Month, including the media reflex to increase Black coverage around this time of year. Please read for details and context.
First, we are looking for a Black freelance editor to (1) develop, shape, and edit personal essays from Black staff, and moderate and edit for publication a group chat among Black chefs, restaurant workers, and/or hospitality-adjacent figures to interrogate attitudes in the industry and food media about race, up to and including our coverage and this assignment.
Next, in February, we will only cover Black interview subjects, with priority to Black contributors. We have made a point of covering Black subjects at all times and that will not change. Check the site if not familiar.
Pay for editing/moderating gig is negotiable. 1k-2k words on the interviews, $500 fee. We pay on acceptance. Please check the site and those guidelines again.
