Journalists wanted (healthcare, insurance, biotech, etc.) | $1+ per word

Note: I am not looking for content providers or people without journalism backgrounds.
I'm the executive editor of a new nonprofit with a strong journalism bent, and I'm intent on building a diverse team of freelancers from the get-go. Looking for journalists who can tackle healthcare, insurance, policy, biotech, tell patient storiesβdig deep and write. DMs open.
I'm still working my way through the resumes on file but always open to talent. The website is up, where you can get a good sense of who we are and what my section hopes to accomplish. I am paying $1 a word or more. The only exceptions so far have been Q&As, which do not require nearly the work of a reported piece but still pay quite well, and compilations of definitions or organizations. No one has been anything but pleased with our rates. Also I do want to be clear that I am not looking for content providers or people without journalism backgrounds.
