I'll be guest editing for the project. I'm currently looking to commission first-person reported op-eds/essays tackling the subject of economic struggle. Pay is roughly $1/word, depending on amount of reporting. I am looking to assign ASAP.
I'm interested in first person pieces about economic hardship across a range of topics including but not limited to religion, immigration, education, parenting/families, race, health, maternal health, culture, housing, agriculture/food, work, etc.
Things I'm looking for in submissions: a personal story that sheds light on a broader economic issue, a clear news hook, some supporting data, clips if you have them and a brief bio with your location. I'd love to hear from journos/writers based in the Midwest and South. I'm looking for U.S. stories only. I will consider submissions from abroad, if the stories focus on inequality in the U.S.
Send pitches or completed pieces.
