I'm looking for contributors in Alabama and Mississippi. If you're a journalist — or wanting to do some journalism — from those states, let me know. You don't need a journalism degree (I don't have one) or experience to work/write for us
We're looking for people rooted in community: Black, brown, Indigenous, queer, trans, disabled, working class and rural writers.
For reported stories, we pay $400-$600. When a story needs more, we either work with a co-publisher to raise that or split to series. For investigations, usually pitched, we’ve worked with writers to get them direct grants.
