Educational Writer wanted for literature reference project | $600-$800 per entry (to start)

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: ANONYMOUS

Looking for writers to produce reference-style entries on works of literature, similar in format to Cliffs, Monarch, and Spark Notes. This is a very specific style of writing requiring the ability to read and process works of literature with an eye toward teaching it, and then writing about them in such a way that hits the important points for high-achieving high school students. I will also need my writers to be able to write multiple-choice test questions.

The entries include a bio section, a historical context section, a summary, character descriptions, and overview of themes and stylistic elements. I am hiring for three genres--fiction, drama, and poetry. The entries generally run 6000-8000 words, although the word count is not critical.

Pay is between $600 and $800 to start, depending on genre and experience.

To be considered, please send a resume or summary of your writing experience, along with references. Send relevant writing samples. Also, look over the sample below and include one or two opening paragraphs of a similar bio on William Wordsworth. It is not necessary to provide bibliography, but let me know what resources you used.

Donne Bio

Considered one of the cornerstone voices in English poetry, John Donne is best known for his romantic and religious poetry, although many of his sermons still survive. Generally speaking, his poetry is divided between his earlier love poetry (which often focuses on physical love) and his later religious poetry. While both contain Christian imagery, the two categories are distinct in content and tone.

Donne was born in London between January 24 and June 19, 1572, to John (a utensil and hardware dealer) and Elizabeth. Tragically, Donne lost both parents when he was very young. His father died when he was four, and his mother remarried about six months later. His mother then died when he was five, so the children were the charges of their stepfather. Donne had a younger brother, Henry, who died from the plague in 1593.
