Kelsey Ryan, Founder / Publisher of The Wichita Beacon, is looking for pitches:
We're seeking freelance journalists to pitch us stories and series for publication in The Wichita Beacon, an in-depth journalism organization based in Wichita, Kansas. Rates: Most are $200-350 — that upper range is for more advanced stories that require records requests and data analysis. Photos are $50 per published image.
We're interested in stories that impact audiences in Kansas and Missouri, and that fall under the general categories of government, economics, education, health care, environment and civic engagement.
We are not seeking commentary or opinion pieces. All content is subject to editing and fact-checking prior to publication. Freelancers are not considered W2 eligible employees and are not eligible for benefits.
