Six to Start, the company behind hit fitness app Zombies, Run!, is expanding its slate of immersive non-fiction "New Adventure" audio stories. While players are running, a non-fiction New Adventure could take them on journey through a far-flung place, back in time, or around their own body. We are open to submissions on all topics.

We’re looking for writers who can make ideas exciting and accessible and who can produce first-class audio scripts to a tight deadline. We pay £460 (~$640 USD) per completed script, and writers are compensated at all stages of script development.

OVERVIEW

Six to Start is expanding its slate of ultra-immersive non-fiction "New Adventure" audio stories. While players are running, a non-fiction New Adventure could take them on journey through a far-flung place, back in time, or around their own body.

We’re looking for writers who can make topics exciting and accessible and who can produce first-class audio scripts to a tight deadline. You'll be reaching over ten million players and joining writers such as Margaret Atwood, Naomi Alderman, and Joanne Harris. If you fit that description, we’d love to hear from you!

We pay £460 (~$640 USD) per completed script, and writers are compensated at all stages of script development. This is a work-for-hire opportunity and you will be working alongside us to develop your ideas into viable New Adventures scripts, to which we will own all rights in perpetuity with no exceptions. We welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds, and we especially encourage those from historically underrepresented groups, including but not limited to women, gender minorities, LGBTQIA+ people, people of colour, people with disabilities, and any intersectional identities. PITCH GUIDELINES

Our non-fiction New Adventures use the audio-driven running gameplay of Zombies, Run! to explore science, nature, history, and more. Past examples include Run the Solar System, Journey to the Centre of the Eye, Grand Canyon, and Volcano Race.

These episodes can be fact-driven (a narrator talks to the player in an engaging, propulsive way) or character-driven (where the player takes the role of a character within a dramatised but fact-based story). We're looking for writers who can share their passion and enthusiasm about a topic as well as their expertise.

We're particularly keen to receive pitches based on the ideas listed in our application guidelines.

Your pitch submission should include:

• 1-3 ideas, each no more than 50 words, included your email body.
• 2 pages of sample writing, double-spaced, that best demonstrates your ability to communicate ideas in a concise, entertaining way to a general audience. This can be taken from any project, but we prefer that it not be written specifically for this application where possible.

Pitch submissions are not compensated. We plan to respond to pitch submissions within 90 days. Please be aware we develop our own ideas internally and we may have already developed a similar or identical idea to yours. As such, we reserve the right to develop any ideas submitted independently.

If your submission is successful, we'll pay for you to write a structural outline on one of your ideas as the next stage in the process.

FEE BREAKDOWN

• £460 GBP (~$640 USD) per completed episode script
• We expect each episode to total around 2200 words, making our rate approximately £0.21 per word (~$0.29 USD)
• This fee is broken down into three payments:£50 GBP (~$70 USD) payable on completion of a structural outline for the episode
  £180 GBP (~$250 USD) payable on completion of the first draft of the episode
  £230 GBP (~$320 USD) payable on completion of the final draft of the episode
  
• Note: This fee covers the completion of up to two additional drafts of the episode script after the first draft.
