Got a great beauty, style or home decor story idea? I’m looking for pieces with a service angle, memoirs, home tours and features with a Canadian focus. Pitch me.
We typically pay $1/word for standard reported pieces (three or more interviews) and then on a scale for other types of journalism (a 750-word memoir without reported sources could pay $350-$500; a 750-word piece with two interviews could pay $500) but it's really dependent on the assignment. If a writer pitches us and their pitch is accepted, we will discuss rate before they accept the assignment and send them a contract. If the rate isn't satisfactory, the writer is absolutely welcome to take their idea and pitch elsewhere.
