Despite the rain, it was a hot night. Jungkook had just broken up with his ex and after days crying over two years of a failed relationship, he was ready to finally enjoy his singleness.

It’s past midnight when he gets off his Uber and texts his best friend.

JK: Yo, I’m here. You guys already inside?

TH: Almost there. Wait for me

When Taehyung arrives, he is alone.

“Just you? Where is everybody?”

“Ouch. I thought I was enough,” Taehyung puts a hand on his chest, pretending to be hurt.

“Well, it’s not the same if it’s just us, you’re no fun when you get drunk,” Jungkook says, crossing his arms.

“I never get drunk.”

“That’s exactly my point, Tae.”

Taehyung sighs, rolling his eyes.

“Don’t worry, Jimin and Hobi are already inside,” he says. He pulls Jungkook closer and puts one of his arms over his shoulder. “And the only reason I don’t get drunk is that I have to take care of your drunk ass.”

“Tonight my drunk ass intends to have lots of fun, so you can drink all you want.”

Taehyung feels his heart tighten in his chest. There’s something about the way how Jungkook is so excited to fool around with random guys in a gay night club that makes him want to scream. It’d been two years since they went out like that. It’d been two years since Taehyung saw him kissing a stranger. He thought about it. The image was very vivid in his memory, and he hated it.

When they got in, the place was completely crowded. Some electronic music was playing way too loud and it was impossible to walk without bumping into other people.

“Sorry, gorgeous,” a man says, touching Taehyung lightly on the shoulder. He smiles. The guy is handsome, but not exactly his type. “Do wanna dance?”

“He doesn’t dance,” Jungkook says, pulling his best friend by the hand.

“Hey!” Taehyung grunts, turning his head to look at the guy that now stands a few meters away. “And you say I’m no fun.”

“Chill, we just arrived. Besides, he’s not even your type.”

Taehyung bites his lip, holding back a smile.

“How do you know?”

“I just do.”

“Who would you say is my type?”

Jungkook ignores the question. Or maybe it’s just too loud for him to listen. His hand is still on Taehyung’s wrist when they find their friends.

It isn’t the whole gang, but at least it’s more than just the two of them. Jungkook loved his best friend, more than he could ever tell, but sometimes it felt a bit awkward between them when they were left alone. Well, at least for the past two years. He never said anything, because really there was no point, but his ex-boyfriend wasn’t Taehyung’s biggest fan. He didn’t like the fact that they were always together, or that they knew everything there was to know about one another. He didn’t like how Taehyung hugged Jungkook, or how he touched his hair.

“I think you should tell him to back off,” his boyfriend said.

“What are you talking about?”

“You know what I’m talking about. I’m sick of him throwing himself at you all the time. What am I supposed to do, pretend I’m blind while he tries to steal my boyfriend?”

“Oh my God, aren’t you being a little overdramatic? He is my best friend. He’s always been my best friend, and he will always be my best friend. You’ll just have to deal with it.”

“No. You gotta choose.”

“Excuse me?”

“Me or him. You choose.”

“Don’t do that.”

“I’m serious, Jungkook.”

“Don’t do that.”

“It’s him, right?” he laughed in disbelief. “It’s always gonna be him.”

Jungkook washed away the thoughts in his head and decided he wasn’t gonna let the memories of his breakup ruin his night.

He drank with his best friends, he danced, he laughed, he forgot. His body was light and his mind completely free. It was easy to feel happy. Maybe he wasn’t drunk enough to affect his judgment, because no one that approached him seemed to be that interesting. No one, except for one person.

“That guy is staring at you all night,” Hobi says to Taehyung, pointing the direction with his own face. “I just met him at the bar. He asked if you were here single.”

“What did you say?” Jungkook asks, making both of them look at him.

“I told him the truth, that Taehyung is wild and free,” he winks.

“Wild? Taehyung? What a joke,” Jungkook rolls his eyes, getting a sip of his drink.

“I can be wild,” Taehyung says in a provoking way, pulling Jungkook by his shirt.

“Really?” it’s not supposed to be serious, but Jungkook gags a bit, suddenly aware of their proximity.

“Really.”

“I’d love to see that.”

“Yeah?” he asks. His voice is only a whisper. His face gets closer and Jungkook doesn’t move. He watches Taehyung, from his eyes to his mouth. He smells the alcohol. He likes it. He wants to taste it. He parts his lips, ignoring the people around them. There’s no one besides Taehyung.

His best friend.

It’s always gonna be him.

“Watch me,” Taehyung says, and Jungkook watches.

But he doesn’t move forward. Instead, he walks away. He crosses the dance floor after the guy Hobi mentioned. Jungkook feels his heart racing. That’s not what he wants.

Maybe he is drunk enough, because, if he isn’t, then how do you explain this? He follows Taehyung. He touches his shoulder and he doesn’t say anything.

“What is it?” Taehyung frowns.

“I want you to do it to me, not him.”

“Do what to you?”

“Show me how wild you can be.”
