ABOUT THIS POSTING

Bright Trip is excited to be creating a video course all about Star Walking, which combines hiking and stargazing. We're looking for a skilled individual to write the script for this course. Please note this is a completely remote position and individuals from anywhere can apply, however we are looking for someone who has experience in hiking, stargazing/astronomy, or preferably both.

Star walking combines hiking with stargazing, so that you can view the sky at different angles and see different constellations. Though some National Parks or private tours offer guided stargazing hikes at night, this course will empower people to do this on their own anytime, anywhere. This video aims to teach basic skills to make night hiking more accessible to more people and teach some science of constellations and astronomy, no matter the viewer's experience level. The course will also provide some knowledge about seeing the sunrise or sunset at the beginning/end of a night hike.

SOME TOPICS WE PLAN TO COVER INCLUDE:

Brief history of constellations as navigation tools, seasonal indicators, and the simple science behind astrological signs
How to identify constellations and well known planets
Stargazing apps to find/understand stars, planets, constellations
Dark sky parks (what makes them, where to find them, best locations)
Basic know-how about night hiking, including gear and tips
Booking stargazing night hike tours (such as in Bryce Canyon or Costa Rica) versus venturing out on your own
How to capture night skies on camera (simplified explanation)
Where/when to hike to see your astrological sign

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:

You will be asked to take 1 week to write an outline of topics to include in the course. Our team will provide feedback, then you will be asked to take 3 weeks to write the script for the course. We will provide you with resources, guidance, and outline/script examples to help you get started. Our rate is $350 for the outline and $950 for the script.
