Attention freelance science journalists! Please send me your pitches for features, 1700 words approximately, which could run on the Observer’s Science & Technology pages. A not exhaustive list of genres of pieces:
1. A deeper “actually it’s more complicated than that” dive into a recent newsworthy study(s).
2. A look at a fast developing area which has a real world application or impact, e.g., Covid vaccines, electric airplanes
3. An appraisal of the science of something mainstream/newsy, such as detoxing, sourdough or bias training
4. A tale. Something with a three-act structure. The long and winding road to a discovery or a dispute between scientists. eg Pluto
