Have you have always wanted to write for children’s television? Apply for a spot in the TPT Writer’s Program. Accepted applicants will be paid $5,000 for completing the program.

Twin Cities PBS & the Ready to Learn Education Grant (RTL 2020) (Award Number: S295A200002) seek to develop a pool of up-and-coming children’s television writers to further our efforts in authentic storytelling that reflects the diverse audience we aim to reach. We are currently seeking talented individuals who are interested in writing for educational Children’s Television for 4–7-year olds. BIPOC applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

We invite interested writers to submit sample story ideas or writing from your own portfolio for consideration to be included in our first Writers Program.

The Program will utilize an existing TPT series, Hero Elementary, as the basis for script development from a story idea to a detailed scene by scene outline. Before submitting to the Program, take time to explore the various areas on our website and watch our previous Hero Elementary episodes. This will give you a good sense of our style and tone, as well as an overview of the education and curriculum-based content we create.

Selected writers will work with Emmy® Award winning industry professionals over a 6-week program to foster and develop the writing skills necessary for a strongly curriculum-focused series. Future work with Twin Cities PBS is a possibility, though not a guarantee.

Accepted writers will be paid for completing the Program.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

• A writing sample of 3-11 pages
• Any supporting info about your story

We also ask that you provide links to your portfolio or previous samples of published work that showcase your writing abilities. Note: Due to high volume of responses, Twin Cities PBS is unable to provide individual feedback on pitches, ideas, or your work. If you don’t hear from us within two weeks of the deadline, assume your submission was not accepted.
