Education Writer wanted (English literature) | $700-$800 per teaching guide
Added 2021-07-06 17:57:20 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: GRADESAVER
Gradesaver publishes a line of lesson plans and teaching guides for literature, and we are currently seeking to add new writers to our freelancer pool.
The Gradesaver Lesson Plans are really teaching guides for novels, plays, and collections of poems or short stories. The audience is primarily high school teachers who are looking for ideas or additional content to supplement their own lessons, but we know they are also used by people leading discussion groups and book clubs on occasion. These teaching guides are not meant to be comprehensive unit plans; they're resources that are at times redundant as we strive to provide a suite of materials from which a teacher can pick and choose.
Writers can pick which title they want to work on from a list of priority titles. Almost all assignments pay a flat fee between $700 and $800, with occasional variance for outliers in terms of difficulty or length, and the expected turnaround time for each title is one month from assignment. You'll work within a template that provides a clear structure while giving a wide berth in terms of specific content. Work is recurring and flexibly scheduled. The writers who are happiest working with Gradesaver are those who write quickly, who highly value flexibility and getting to organize their own time, and who enjoy thinking about the complexities of how a text exists in the world. Good moonlight gig for teachers and grad students.
If interested, write to liz@gradesaver.com with a summary of your writing and/or teaching experience, resume optional. Interviews will be conducted over email (since this is a writing job), and qualified candidates will be asked to complete a brief writing test.
