Remote Non-Fiction Ghostwriters wanted | $45 per hour
Added 2021-07-08 18:10:43 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: VISIONARY LITERARY
Looking to add another freelance opportunity to your arsenal? Great, because we’re hiring experienced nonfiction ghostwriters.
The pay is $45 per hour and pay dates are on the 1st and 15th of every month. No more invoices. No more waiting around for client approval. When you put in the hours, you’re paid for those hours.
Sound good? Great. Let’s continue.
Our company? We’re Visionary Literary.
Before I get going and describe more about our company, our clients, and what we’re looking for, let me get some preliminary things out of the way. Because I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I’ve read through job descriptions before only to get to the end and find out there’s one key piece of information that disqualifies me. Very annoying.
SO HERE ARE OUR CRITERIA:
- You must have nonfiction writing experience. I know, I know, talented writers are talented writers. And storytelling is key in either fiction or nonfiction. But our clients are publishing important books and we need people who have experience writing business, finance, self-help, motivational, political, and other nonfiction subjects.
- Must be a U.S. citizen. We recently attempted a foreign hire and it didn’t work out particularly well. For the time being, we’re only looking at U.S. writers. That will certainly change in the future.
- Must be tech savvy. If you’re unfamiliar with video calls, audio files, and transcription, this might not be the best fit for you.
Okay, now that we’re through with that, let’s talk about the ghostwriter’s role and expectations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking experienced writers to help our clients to structure, write, and polish their books. With the help of one of our editors, you will work with the client to produce a manuscript that is print-ready.
You know the deal. If you’re reading this and considering applying to be part of our ghostwriting team, you’ve been through the process before. What I’m writing is old news. It’s normal process.
The only thing that may differentiate us from the processes you might be familiar with is our reliance upon tech tools that provide audio recording and transcription. Our company structure might be a bit different, too, so let me take a quick moment to introduce you to who we are and the type(s) of people we’re looking to bring on.
ABOUT US
We’re a startup. There, we said it.
You still here? Good. We’re glad you’re okay with that first part. And if you’re unsure of what that first part means, it means we can’t offer all the perks a major company can offer. At the moment, we don’t have medical benefits or offer any sort of assistance with retirement plans.
If you’re a freelancer, this is nothing new to you. But for those who may be coming from other companies, this may be a deal-breaker. Believe us, we understand. We know that your family and your financial future are of utmost importance. And that’s why we’re working on setting up options to help our team — freelancers and contractors included.
As we work to implement these benefits into our system, here’s what we can offer:
- The most positive work environment imaginable. Not even kidding. We want you to wake up happy about your occupation, not dreading it.
- Flexible work hours. Want to get started early so you can call it quits early? Go ahead. Want to take a long lunch break to head out with your friends or spouse? Have at it. This isn’t a nine-to-five. There won’t be anybody looking over your shoulder. You’re free to come and go as you please. We work on deadlines. And as long as you hit those deadlines (or keep your Project Manager up to speed on any you might miss), we’re happy.
- Support. Work, life, financial, relationship. . . we don’t care what it is. If you need support, you’ll get it. No questions asked, no judgments made.
- Upward Mobility. Did we mention we’re a startup? We know, it’s getting a little redundant now, but being involved in a startup is an amazing experience. Not only do you get to work closely with every member of the team — starting with the ownership team and working on down — but you get the chance to snatch up some of those upper-level positions as they become available. We know the risk you take in being involved with a startup and we want to ensure you are rewarded handsomely for it.
Phew! Okay, now that all that stuff’s out of the way, let’s get to it. If you’re interested in being part of the Visionary Literary team, we’d love to consider you. Here’s what we look for in all of our candidates (on top of the criteria mentioned at the top of this article):
- A positive attitude. We just want good team players, that’s all. Our environment is one that revolves around support and positivity and we can’t have grinches roaming through our (virtual) halls.
- A willingness to learn. Whether you’ve been submersed in the freelance writing world for decades or are just getting your career moving in the right direction, we want eager people. We want people to have a strong desire for lifelong learning and personal development.
A POINT ON EEO
Diversity, inclusion, equality, and acceptance are all on the minds of applicants today and we want you to know we are totally on board with this. After all, it’s 2021. Plus, we’re an open-minded, collaborative company and we want everyone to feel happy and positive when working for us.
We honestly don’t care about your background, your gender, or any life preferences you have — Any! Because that has nothing to do with who you are as a person. And it’s your personality we’re attracted to as a potential candidate.
Man, woman, non-binary, black, white, brown, green, blue — you can identify as a fucking shark for all we care. Just be a happy person who works well with others and has a positive outlook on life. That’s all we ask.
WANT TO BE A PART OF IT?
Interested? Awesome! We’re looking to bring on roughly 5 to 7 freelance ghostwriters. If interested and feel like your personality makes you a great fit for our team, please send an email to operations@visionaryliterary.com with a few writing samples attached (links to previously published books are a huge plus).
I’m looking forward to hearing back from some amazing writers. Let’s create books together that can change the world!
