Journalist wanted (telecommunications) | ~50 cents per word
Added 2021-08-04 21:16:08 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: FIERCE TELECOM
FierceTelecom and FierceWireless — news sites of parent company Questex — are seeking a freelance reporter to cover news in the telecommunications industry.
We’re looking for a sharp and eager journalist to write daily news stories based on press releases and/or interviews. The candidate must have a journalism degree.
We cover topics ranging from 5G, to fiber broadband, to business deals and competition. Our coverage includes companies such as T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and Comcast. Many days our stories are similar to stories in major business newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal.
Most stories typically run from 300-600 words and take from two to four hours to report and write.
The role is remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S., but the Eastern time zone works best for our morning deadline.
The freelancer will work with the editor-in-chief and senior editors to discuss coverage, receive assignments and learn our style and processes. The ideal candidate will also pitch story ideas, develop industry contacts, tap relevant news alerts and company mailing lists and make social media posts on LinkedIn and Twitter.
To apply: Please email Editor in Chief Linda Hardesty your resume or a link to your LinkedIn profile, plus a short cover letter and 2-3 of your best reporting clips: lhardesty@questex.com
