Itching to write smart, quick, relevant tech/business stories? Well I'm itching to expand my freelancer network. Pitch me!
We've recently had a restructuring in hopes to build out more of a tech/business section online and in the magazine. And so on top of our in-house reporters, we're eager to hear from freelancers who have ideas, access, backgrounds, expertise that could improve our coverage.
Specifically, we're currently primarily interested in medium length stories (800-1,000 words) around trends, upcoming notable events, undercovered issues in business/tech. We also have specific areas over the next few months that we're focusing on like supply chains, travel/hospitality through the reopening, and the Olympics. And we're definitely interested in further pitches on real estate, retail, and other trade businesses. That being said, I'm very open to other ideas and areas of coverage.
I've not wanted to put specific rates because we contract with freelancers around the world and I don't want to create issues for my fellow editors in other bureaus. However, my team has discussed starting rates of $500 for an approved pitch for a U.S.-based writer.
