Remote Technical Writer wanted (reports, white papers, briefing papers, blogs, etc.) | $80-$100 per hour

Shared Assessments is a global membership organization dedicated to developing the best practices, education, and tools to drive third party risk assurance. We are creators of the industry standard third party risk toolkit, used by over 15,000 organizations worldwide.

Shared Assessments is looking for a Technical Writer to interface with staff and members to create Study Survey Instruments, Data Analysis & Reports, White Papers, Briefing Papers, Resource Sheets, One-Pagers and Blogs for a growing organization in Third Party Risk Management.

This remote position is an ongoing contract role, 20 - 25 hours weekly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create first drafts for multiple party review and feedback.
• Read, review, and edit manuscripts for accuracy in grammar and content.
• Edit copy to improve clarity and ensure content accessibility for the target audience.
• Verify terms, sources, and URLs using standard reference resources.
• Collaborate with graphic designer, subject matter experts and project and committee managers.
• Manage communication, schedule, and processing of edits and rounds of proof with subject matter expert and project or committee manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Prior experience in a Technical Writer role.
• Published white papers, executive summaries or briefing papers.
• Expertise with standard editorial concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Basic familiarity with technical and computer terms.
• Ability to work with internal style guides and to create project-specific stylesheets as the project requires.
• Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to communicate well with team members, organization members and authors.
• Ability to work on tight schedules, if necessary.
• 3–5 years of prior writing and editorial experience in a technical environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including editing experience in Word required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Understanding and experience writing about Risk Management and/or Third-Party Risk Management.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Professional work experience, preferably for a member organization.
• Superior organization and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment, yet be self-directed, proactive and future-driven.
• Experience with Basecamp, Smartsheet, MS Teams and Excel.
