I'm taking feature pitches. We're looking for human-centric, solutions-based stories, meaning we want pitches that feature real people addressing problems in their community and the context of how their narrative connects to the big issues we collectively face. Do pitch a story about a coastal community and its creative solution to extreme weather; don't pitch an expert-heavy analysis of rising sea levels that leaves readers feeling helpless.
Some topics we don't get many pitches on but would like to publish: climate, disability rights, economy/poverty, infrastructure, off-beat, weird or quirky narratives that would surprise readers. Rates for features range between $300-500, depending on length and reporting needed
