Pitches wanted (op-eds with Jewish angle) | $250+ per piece

Want to write an op-ed for us? Answer these six questions before you send me a pitch, and you’ll likely get a yes:
1. What’s the hook? What happened that spurred you to write this piece? If it’s a timeless topic, you need to have a fresh “in.” If it’s a small thing and it happened last week, it’s too late.
2. What’s the thesis / core argument you're making? After reading your piece, what — in a sentence — do you hope readers understand or see differently?
3. What’s the headline? And would you honestly click on it if you saw it in the wild?
4. What’s the scope? How do you plan to tell your story? In how many words, and using what sorts of evidence? (Interviews, experiences, data, images, etc.)
5. Why should American Jews and other Forward readers care? If your thesis is correct, what’s the significance? What does it mean / change / spur us to do ?
6. Why are you the person to write this? Do you have a novel insight? Relevant personal experience / professional expertise / primary source material?
Put this all together into a nice paragraph or two, slap a “Hi, Laura!” on top, and you’ve got your pitch! I'm happy to answer your questions as well.
