Writers / pitches wanted for Catholic newspaper (SoCal) | $175-$225 per piece

Paid freelance writing gig: We are looking to expand our pool of freelance writers for a monthly Roman Catholic newspaper based in San Bernardino, CA.
At this time this opportunity is open to writers based in Riverside County or San Bernardino County, or possibly neighboring counties in SoCal. The stories we typically assign to freelancers are features style pieces related to Catholicism in the Diocese of San Bernardino.
The writer should either be a Catholic or be familiar with/respectful of Catholicism. Some articles may be done completely remotely, while for others the freelancer would have to travel somewhere to cover the story.
Stories are generally assigned but I also accept pitches. (Please read our site first to become familiar with our content before pitching. We do not commission opinion/commentary articles to freelancers, only news/features articles.)
Rates are $175 for a standard length story (500-1,000 words), $225 for a story over 1,000 words and $25 for a photo. If interested, send me a resume and three writing samples.
