What I'm looking for: Service stories that help journalists navigate the industry, to be published as FWT newsletters that go out to 8,000+ subscribers.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
- Stories that teach a specific skill
- Stories that offer insight into making it as a journalist (whatever "making it" means!)
- Advice-focused stories aimed at journalists who are just starting out in the industry
- Q&As with and/or profiles of successful journalists about their process/career trajectories/how they do what they do
- Explainers about process (e.g., good systems for tracking work; how to actually find work; how to do taxes; how to negotiate a contract; etc.)
- Really, just any story that can help journalists be better!
- Generally around 600 words, give or take (though I'm open to longer if the idea warrants!)
WHAT I'M NOT LOOKING FOR
- Trend stories
- General media industry stories
- Listicles
- Really anything newsy
WHAT DOES IT PAY?
I am broke and unemployed lol, so not a lot! Flat rate of $200 per story. (But eventually I hope to be able to pay a lot more!)
