We are looking for freelance writers to join our team at Mount Pleasant Magazine and its affiliated publications, including Charleston Women, Mount Pleasant Pets, Mount Pleasant Senior Living, North Mount Pleasant and HealthLinks Charleston. Freelance writers would be added to our network and are typically assigned 1-3 pieces per issue depending on available topics.
We pay ten cents per word, and articles typically range from 400-1200 words depending on the topic. Topics are assigned by the editor, and writers can accept or reject the opportunity based on their schedule.
WHAT A WRITER WILL DO:
- Conduct interviews either virtually or in person
- Research topics thoroughly and fact check their work
- Write creatively and accurately to craft a uniquely-tailored article
- Submit all work by the assigned deadline
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or other related subject, OR equivalent work experience
- Someone with a knowledge of the Lowcountry
- Reliability & consistency with meeting deadlines and with quality of writing
- Knowledge of AP Stylebook
