AltFi is looking for an experienced freelance newsletter writer to contribute to our AltFi US Newsletter.

We’ve had an incredible 12 months of growth at AltFi, and now we’re looking for one or more US Newsletter Writers to help grow our coverage of fintech, digital banking and alternative finance in America.

The AltFi US Newsletter is expected to launch on a fortnightly basis later this year and may transition to a weekly schedule in 2022.

Our ideal candidate(s) might be a freelance journalist or writer with an advanced understanding of the US financial technology landscape who can independently write this 800-1,200 word newsletter.

They should be well versed in companies like Stripe, Square, Plaid, Robinhood and Brex, aware of broad financial industry trends, like how open banking is challenging the card payment networks, and able to write with humour and analytical thinking.

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate strong experience in newsletter writing, with their own ideas to bring to the table for the mini-features, interviews and leader article topics which will form the base of the newsletter.

AltFi runs an entrepreneurial newsroom in the heart of London, but this role would be based remotely in the US.

For the right candidate, our US Newsletter Writer could become a full-time role.

Journalism training or media law training is a plus, but not essential.

We’re looking to pay between $250-$350 per newsletter for the right candidate.

JOB SPEC

Write content for our fortnightly US newsletter (c.800-1,200 words per newsletter)
Use humour, analytical writing and specific insights to unpack the US fintech landscape
Come up with ideas for the mini-features, interviews and leader article themes which will form the newsletter
Work remotely and independently, with the support of our UK editorial team
Possibly working alongside other freelance Newsletter Writers

Our interview process for shortlisted freelance writers will involve writing a draft of our US newsletter so that we can assess your writing. This will be paid at the above rate.
