The Outlaw Report is looking for pitches of original reporting, explainers, profiles, and longform features and investigations on the fast-evolving world of cannabis in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. We're seeking freelance a reporter who can contribute one story each week, and is available to start immediately. The rate is $175 for reported stories of around 750 words; $250 for reported stories of around 1250 words. Reporters work remotely and are not required to visit office.
Applicants should submit a resume, three writing samples, and three story pitches (2-3 sentences each). We are interested in hard news, profiles, explainers, features and investigations on cannabis in the D.C. region. Our areas of coverage include but are not limited to policy, politics, social equity, criminal justice, business, science, and sustainability. Please note that we are NOT interested in product reviews.
