The Ascent is looking for a freelance writer to develop content and "best of" lists for everyday investors – specifically in the realm of cryptocurrency! This is a flexible, 100% remote contract and will be paid out at $150 per article (plus extra hourly pay incentives).

We are hoping for someone with the bandwidth to write 15-20 articles per month.

And as we seek to empower everyone with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to attain financial freedom, our coverage is continually expanding.

We launched The Ascent, a Motley Fool brand, in 2018 to rate and review critical financial products like credit cards, savings accounts, brokerages, and loans, as well as to provide jargon-free advice on all things personal finance. There's a lot of money advice out there (some good, some less good), and we're cutting through the noise that often leaves people feeling helpless and insecure about key financial decisions.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Ascent team is looking for an expert writer who loves to comment on all things crypto, including:

• High-profile cryptocurrencies
• New and interesting coins
• Blockchain technology
• Defi
• Apps and exchanges
• Regulation
• Crypto price swings
• And much more!

This writer will produce timely articles on industry news, catchy takes on trending topics, and educational articles for everyday readers. If you could talk for hours about Bitcoin versus Ethereum, fiat versus digital currency, and Elon's latest tweet storm, then you may be the writer we're looking for!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write both timely and evergreen articles on cryptocurrency and related topics.
• Update existing content for freshness, accuracy, and search engine optimization.
• Stay current on industry trends and key data sources.
• Pitch timely article ideas based on relevant news and trends.
• Accept writing assignments and deliver them on deadline.
• Use and continually learn about SEO best practices.
• Adapt to our ever-evolving needs, processes, formats, etc.
• Attend monthly meetings with in-house staff to discuss new initiatives and best practices.
• Prove that Bigfoot is real.

(We'll settle for eight out of nine.)

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years' experience writing on cryptocurrency, with previous publishing credits.
• A firm grasp of the current state and future potential of cryptocurrency, its applications, and the underlying technology.
• Knowledge of digital content and SEO best practices.
• The ability to write clear, fluid, and engaging prose.
• Adaptability and responsiveness to feedback.

In your application, please provide at least three writing samples.

• In a turbulent industry, our track record of financial stability stands out.
• The Motley Fool's writers tend to stick with us for years. Many have been here a decade or more.
• Experience in writing for organic search is a major plus -- but not a requirement.
