Pitches wanted (politics) (worldwide) | up to $1 per word

I’m looking ahead to 2022 and need stories! I edit the front of the book for print, so generally 700-2000 word pieces. Pitch me. I am generally looking for reported pieces on politics, but open to all sorts of ideas.
I favor reporting, but the joys of a magazine is that a piece can be both reporting and analysis. And while DC-focused stories are great, take a wide view on politics. I like both serious policy and funny stories highlighting the absurdity of US politics.
I can’t offer set pay rate since it’ll vary wildly by story based on depth of reporting/research a piece requires. We’re not a Conde, but still pay nicely for print stories—about $300-400 min, but then can go up a lot from there into $1ish per word for longer, deeply reported pieces
We skew toward a US audience, but international politics are important! So definitely, we do not only commission US-based writers.
