THE ROLE
We are seeking a Copywriter to support our life science and bio-pharmaceutical clients and internal teams on a project basis. The Copywriter will be responsible for working to understand the EHR subject matter content to appropriately produce outlines and manuscripts with creative execution using pithy language and guidance for images to break-up text. The Copywriter will assist with planning, producing, analyzing, and revising written content including but not limited to EHR Training Guides/Modules, PowerPoint Presentations, EHR Guides for practices, EHR Reference tools for field teams, and internal emails for field teams.
In this role, you closely in collaboration with POCP’s bio-pharmaceutical leads, Sr. EHR Consultants, Account Directors, Account Managers, and Graphic Designers. The ideal candidate will have healthcare and pharmaceutical agency experience and an understanding of pharmaceutical company processes with some knowledge of the challenges that health care providers may face in relation to EHRs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with HIT SMEs on the development of copy outlines, manuscripts, and presentations for both the life sciences internal field team and HCP audiences
- Lead writer of manuscripts and presentations, reviewing and editing of layouts, and responding to client requested edits
- Work collaboratively with account teams and graphic designers
- Provide edits after initial draft of manuscript and throughout the project life
- Provide creative design direction to ensure appropriate story flow and a good balance between text and graphics
- Annotate and highlight deliverables and references using Adobe commenting feature and obtain needed references
- Coordinate the editing process by team members to meet project deadlines, including conceptualizing projects, continually making recommendations to clarify content of documents throughout the development of the project
- Analyze and interpret content and communication with the ability to note critical takeaways
- Provide light writing support for the POCP Marketing Team such as writing content for email campaigns, landing pages, blogs, etc as bandwidth allow
- Use Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for internal communications, file sharing, and version control
- Referencing using AMA style, fact-checking, and proofreading
- Maintain familiarity with current healthcare industry trends, pharmaceutical practices and regulatory requirements that affect medical writing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years' experience as a life science and/or pharmaceutical copywriter
- Knowledge or understanding of bio-pharmaceutical, diagnostic, or life science industry
- Solid understanding of pharmaceutical company processes with some knowledge of the challenges that health care providers may face in relation to EHRs
- Expertise in English grammar and syntax
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to consistently apply multiple formatting preferences and standards across teams
- Ability to make health IT topics understandable to non-technical audiences
- Ability to meet deadlines, support multiple projects, and track key deliverable dates in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Excellent ability to work independently, yet seamlessly integrate activities and collaborate with remote teams
- Ability to tackle difficult issues and handle strong personalities
- Experience working in a small company environment with the ability to wear multiple hats
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Healthcare and pharmaceutical agency experience a plus
- Health care IT writing experience a plus
- Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
- Reference support for MLR submissions (Veeva)
