Our writers include journalists at varying levels of experience, researchers, policymakers, and the occasional member of Congress; if you have something to say about poverty and inequality, we want to hear it. Not sure if something is a story? We're happy to chat about it.

We have a particular interest in reads on unintended consequences and things people aren't talking about, such as this piece on research about how chronic nuisance ordinances are getting people evicted from their homes for things like not mowing the lawn.

Your pitch should briefly discuss what you want to write and how, and tell us a little about yourself. If you have a reporting plan or specific sources of interest, please share!

Note: We only cover domestic (U.S.) poverty issues!
