WORLD WILDLIFE LOVE LETTER SUBMISSIONS
We’ve established a new column in World Wildlife magazine: a short, uplifting personal essay about nature’s impact on a writer.
We invite submissions at this time. Length: 100-300 words. Pay: $1.25/word for accepted pieces.
Think of this piece as a message to a fellow nature lover. While we love beautiful writing, we also value good storytelling (think compelling anecdotes or drama), humor, inspiration, and of course honesty. Because this piece is short, dive into the meat of the story quickly and confidently. We’re imagining this piece as a first-person, nature-focused version of the NYT’s Modern Love. That said, please surprise us. We’re open to poems as well.
What we definitely don’t want: a description of a beautiful place you once visited, an op-ed about environmentalism, or a scholarly thesis.
We are a U.S.-based magazine looking for essays from U.S.-based writers. While we’ll try our best to respond to everyone, depending on the number of submissions, this may not be possible. Please note, we're a quarterly publication (and a small editorial team), so please be patient if you don’t hear from us soon!
