Position Title: Freelance Cannabis Writer

Position Status: Part-time, Contract

Compensation: $0.20/word

Summary: PotGuide, a subsidiary of Fire Technologies, is searching for a talented freelance writer with expert marijuana knowledge and writing skills to assist in content development initiatives for Fire Technologies’ media network, including PotGuide.com and WikiLeaf.com. The Freelance Cannabis Writer will coordinate with the Content Manager to create content and ensure all writing is consistently aligned with the company’s vision and style.

The ideal Freelance Writer candidate(s) will have excellent writing and editorial skills, knowledge of SEO best practices and content optimization, and experience researching complex ideas related to various cannabis topics. A prior knowledge of cannabis and a working relationship with the plant are needed to fully encapsulate the responsibilities of this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write content catered to the needs of the business, as directed by the Content Manager
• Research a variety of cannabis topics to ensure credibility in all forms of work
• Stay up to date on the latest cannabis news, products and cultural trends
• Understand target audiences to create catered demographical content
• Brainstorm new content ideas to pitch to the Content Manager
• Work in an autonomous fashion, relying on personal cannabis and writing knowledge
• Maintain consistency and credibility in tone, style and word choice
• Ability to use targeted keywords to maximize search engine optimization (SEO)
• Ability to add useful internal and external links
• Maintain an organized workflow to streamline monthly submissions and hit deadlines

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills
• Bachelor’s Degree
• English, Writing or Journalism preferred
• Proven professional writing skills
• Extensive cannabis knowledge and passion for the plant
• Knowledgeable in SEO best practices
• Access to your own computer and Google Drive
• At least two (2) years experience in digital content creation
• Strong work ethic and ability to navigate multiple projects while adhering to deadlines
• Strong analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• 21+ age requirement due to nature of the industry
