Deadline: 1 February 2022
We are currently soliciting pitches for Issue 17 of Logic: HOME.
Logic is a magazine about technology and society that publishes three times per year, in print and digital formats. We’re trying to ask the right questions about how technology works, and whom it works for.
We’re seeking reported articles, features, essays, and profiles that match our theme, Home. We pay $250 for shorter essays of 1200-1600 words, and $550 for longer features of 2000-4000 words and up.
CALL FOR PITCHES: HOME (SUMMER 2022)
Home is so sad, it stays as it was left, a sad poet once wrote. But in the middle of a pandemic that has led many to turn their kitchens and couches into “home classrooms” and “offices” and left many others unhoused, where online shopping is glutting global logistics and loved ones have been stranded for years across heavily surveilled borders, and tech billionaire tourists blast into outer space, we know better. As well as nostalgia, home is a site of constant change. As desperate parents ping Care.com with searches for domestic help, Amazon is intensifying its smart home spying equipment, Zillow is over leveraged (trying to flip too many identical condos with those cursive word signs that say things like RELAX), and Evergrande threatens to blow up the global economy, this issue will explore how technologies make home, and vice versa.
Pitch window closes end of day February 1, 2022.
