I'm hoping to work on more news features—1500 to 2000 word features with a newsy hook, or, put another way, news stories with more space and breadth for color and insight, history and nuance. Just, you know, putting that out there.
We've always skewed featuresque rather than hard news in the news section, but this is kind of doubling down on that for some stories that just need a bit more room, letting us bring our focus on feature storytelling to things that are a bit more timely.
The rate for these stories will be CAN $1.30 per word. The stories will go through multiple rounds of editing, and will require annotation for fact checking.
