COMPANY/PUBLICATION: ANTHOLOGY OF POSITIVE, JOYOUS ESSAYS BY AUTISTIC AUTHORS

Laura Kate Dale is looking for pitches for an anthology of essays by autistic authors:

I'm in talks with a publisher about creating an anthology of positive joyous essays by autistic authors. Looking to pay folks £200 for a 2,000 - 2,500 word essay. Accepting pitches currently. Not a firm deadline right now, but I'd say end of March should be fine, lots of other book legwork steps for now

I would be looking to feature a diverse variety of perspectives. Nobody's contributions ruled out, but particularly interested in contributions that are intersectional, and are not purely white, UK / US, under 30 years old, etc.

Also particularly interested in high support needs contributions, as those are some stories of joy particularly left out of conversations. I am not looking for stories from non autistic individuals about joy that autistic people in their life have brought them.

Diagnosis is not a requirement to contribute. We recognise the barriers in place of accessing diagnosis, and the ways many maginalised groups struggle to get diagnosis. We respect the right to self diagnosis, as we recognise without that we shut out many marginalised voices.

Contributions could take many forms, from stories about a day your hyperfixation or special interest got to be indulged, to a story about self understanding, to a story about childhood sources of joy your peers didn't understand. If it's about autism, and joy, it could fit.
