The online news team is looking for more freelance reporters to work with. Right now, we are especially looking for people with reporting and news experience. We love to help folks become reporters, but we also need people who are familiar with the inverted pyramid, the rush of breaking news, etc.
While we’re always grateful for reporters with religion experience (personally or professionally) it is not a requirement — we’d love to help established reporters add religion stories to their clips!
We pay between $250-350 for online reported pieces, depending on the workload of the piece. We are typically looking for people who can turn around a story in 5-8 business days or less, and online stories typically have 3-4 sources.
What type of stories are we interested in? Succinctly: Faith and justice. We're looking for stories that explore the vast motivations behind people of faith involved in justice work.
