Personal Finance Insider is seeking writers to produce explainers, how-tos, and other evergreen stories on a wide variety of topics. Read more about us, including our commitment to diversity and inclusion here. We pay flat rates for each of the different types of stories we produce that are fair and equitable. All writers are paid the same rates. They start at $400 and increase depending on the type of story and the amount of work required to produce it.

Insider is seeking several freelance personal finance writers to produce thorough, well-researched explainers, how-tos, and other evergreen stories on a wide variety of personal finance topics. This role is on a freelance basis.

We’re looking for freelance writers with excellent writing, editing, and researching skills who are creative in making complex concepts understandable and accessible to readers from all walks of life. Freelance writers will be tasked with tackling a range of stories, including where to buy Bitcoin, how to write a check, understanding the differences between a traditional and a Roth IRA, and much more.

WERE LOOKING FOR FOLKS WHO:

• Have a baseline understanding of personal finance, economics, business, and investing
• Are experienced at researching topics thoroughly using primary and secondary sources and understand the importance of attribution in authoritative writing.
• Know how to find subject-matter experts and understand how to interview and quote them in ways to provide meaningful context and perspective that adds weight and credibility to stories
• Have a portfolio of published stories, ideally on personal finance or investing topics
• Are comfortable working with Google Docs
• Can meet deadlines (typical turnaround time is one week)
