Witchy writers, I'm working on scheduling out my subscriber-only posts for the rest of the year. Which means, I need pitches! I'm looking for pitches covering these dates/topics:
- Mar. 17: St. Patrick's Day
- Apr. 15: Sigrblot/Sumarsdag
- Apr. 22: Earth Day
- Apr. 28: Floralia
- May 1: Beltane
- May 8: Mother's Day
- Jun. 9: Vestalia
- Jun. 19: Father’s Day
- Jun. 21: Litha
- Aug. 1: Lammas or Lughnasdadh
- Aug. 23: Vulcanalia
- Sep. 22: Mabon
- Oct. 14: Vetrablot
- Oct. 31: Samhain
- Dec. 17: Saturnalia
- Dec 21: Yule
- Dec. 31: Hogmanay (cont.)
Keep in mind I can only publish ONE piece for each of these. The finished pieces should have an article of 300-400 words and two or three short recipes, so please mention what they will be in the pitch. ONLY SEND PITCHES, not full pieces—I will ignore full pieces. Pay is $100.
I'm open to international writers.

TO HELP YOU CRAFT YOUR PITCH:
- Learn more about the publication: Cooking, baking, and ingredients are some of the key tools of the trade at Kitchen Witch, and this newsletter celebrates the magic that can be made in the kitchen. It covers anything that hits the intersection of food and witchcraft—whether that’s a recipe for a honey jar, the history of altar cakes, or even a deep-dive into food-adjacent topics. More information here.
- Read through a selection of recent articles/stories on its website.
- Review the submission guidelines here. Note that these are the publication's general guidelines to help you refine your pitch. You must still follow the editor's specific instructions above.
- Check out our collection of pitch excerpts on this page and find more sample pitches at The Open Notebook Database and at SuccessfulPitches.com.
- Do not forget to end your pitch with (1) a short introduction about yourself; (2) a paragraph highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits; and (3) links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.
