Hi, concerning the hydration of cats I received a very useful advice back when i adopted my army of darkness 11 years ago. It's still very unknown, so probably helpful. I was told that I should not put water next to their food. That I should place 2-3 waterbowls in different places in my home far away from the food. It's because cats only drink the water next to their food if there is no other possibility, because it's still in their genes that it could be poisoned because in the wild they will also eat prey they didn't hunt themselves. And due to the decaying process the water could be poisoned. So it's unnatural for them to drink where they eat. I was really amazed that it actually worked, and my boys hardly ever need to go to vet (in all those years each of them maybe three times). So in case it's something you didn't know so far, and you want to give it a try, give it some time as cats can be a bit stubborn to adapt to changes. I cannot promise that it works for you, I just received positive feedback from everyone that I passed that advice on to.
