JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for witty, succinct writers to write evergreen and timely articles about personal taxes. Ideally, you’ll have the bandwidth to write between three and five 800-word, SEO-optimized articles per month, but like Elastigirl, we’re flexible.

YOU SHOULD ALSO EXPECT TO:

• Make the reader laugh, cringe, and cry even while explaining the extraordinarily mundane. If we hear that a single person yawns while reading your piece, we’re unpublishing it (and that might not even be a joke).
• Stick to the brand’s style and voice, which never shies away from a joke but won’t compromise on its integrity and commitment to accuracy.
• Pitch timely article ideas based on news and general goings-on in the personal tax space. Ideas will be assigned to you, but we want to hear from you, too.
• Commit to learning and implementing SEO best practices without forgetting your fantastic writing skills.
• Respond timely and kindly to editor feedback.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

• Experience as a US-based tax writer or practitioner. CPA or EA designation a big plus. A CFP with tax-planning experience is also great.
• Experience writing with SEO best practices. A pledge to learn from us about SEO will also do.
• A penchant for keeping a finger on the pulse and knowing what’s hot and what’s not among our target audience.
• Excellent written English skills with exemplary attention to detail.
• An ability to work autonomously and under tight deadlines.
• No ego when it comes to feedback. We all need editors, even this writer.
