We're looking for pitches for the Guardian US's "Guns & Lies in America" series. We cover all forms of gun violence, from mass shootings to daily incidents, and always highlight the people who are most impacted by shootings. The story should focus on the States but there's always flexibility depending on the story.
We publish a range of story types and formats, from news features to enterprise stories, investigative reporting, Q&As, comment pieces, first-person accounts, photo essays, data visualizations, and audio and video stories. We’re also interested in projects with a community engagement component, which amplify the experiences of gun violence interrupters and survivors.
Location: Primarily California, but we have a little wiggle room depending on the story.
Send us your pitch through the form here.
NOTE: Reports indicate that this opportunity will pay 65¢ to $1 a word based on the reporting and research load. It is recommended that you discuss the rate(s) with the editor prior to commencing work.
