We are looking for well-researched, original, balanced and well-written content on the following theme:
Connect

THIS THEME CAN BE EXPLORED BY:

• Untold stories of a specific experience or cultural fusion
• Unconventional content explored in an interested and experimental format.
• How do you ‘connect’ as a hyphenated individual
• Where do you find connections? Is it through people, family, place, or scents etc?
• If you are a third culture individual, how did your upbringing impact your sense of identity and connection with your family’s culture?
• Do you feel you missed out on a specific culture from your mixed heritage?
• Insights and analysis into a culturally significant film or book
• Book, film, music recommendations for a specific culture (submitted altogether as one article)
• Exploring your cultural connections through music, textiles, games and traditions
• Captured Moments series: 400 word recollections/memoirs of a specific moment on ‘connect’ theme
• Tangible Culture series: stories told through the lens of objects (x2-4) either in your home or elsewhere on the theme of ‘connect’
• Memoir/first-person narratives/thought pieces
• Profile pieces that are unique and tell a wider cultural story
• Photo stories that haven’t been published before, focussing on ‘connect’
• Recipes accompanied by a short ‘cultural’ connect story
• Illustration based on ‘connect’
• Short stories and poetry on the theme of ‘connect’

WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR:

• Listicles
• Restaurant reviews
• Individual person profiles
• Product reviews

We believe in renumerating contributors for their work. We pay £75 per piece. Word Count: our pieces tend to range from 600-800 words, but are flexible depending on the type of content pitched/submitted.
